Fruity flop

Not entirely a flop; just not what I had planned.

I buy fruit to have something healthy to eat. My kids love all kinds of fruit, so it's not like I have to struggle with picky eaters.

So, I bought all this fruit about a week ago: grapes, peaches, clementine oranges, strawberries. We did well and ate all the grapes and clementines before they went bad. But then there were the strawberries and peaches. I just kept fogetting to get them out.

So what do you do when you have a lot of fruit that needs to be used all at once? You make desserts! A strawberry pie and a peach cobbler later, I look back at my good, healthy intentions and chuckle a little.

I'll do better next time. :)

Boy, they were good!

I just finished up our peach cobbler for lunch today! I have been craving peach desserts this summer...... no, I'm not. :)

Love you,

Kim, I just posted about my sweet tooth--so funny that I read your blog now. My husband and I just had fresh strawberry pie after lunch. I credit my Granny Bills for this habit of dessert-making and always having something sweet to eat. Having Deborah as part of our family, I am pretty sure this "dessert thing" runs in the Curtis blood as well. :)

Just remember, fruit desserts are good for you... right? :)

I would NEVER call cobbler or a pie a "flop", unless it was store-bought. There, I said it--the snobby, spoiled-rotten, had-all-my-food-made-from-scratch-growing-up self said it!!

I wish I could've tasted those desserts...

I wish Pat wasn't going on a diet tomorrow...

M-m-m-m-m-m-m cobbler! One of my favorite desserts - doesn't matter what kind. Make a crust, insert fruit, bake, add ice cream -- Yum-O!

Good thing you ate the Clementines! I can't imagine a clementine cobbler. :) Aunt Kathy has a good recipe for a grape pie.

Wish I could have had some of the peach cobbler, though. Did you have some real ice cream (Yarnells) to go along with it?

Yes, Uncle Kevin says these fruit cobblers count as a fruit...but then he counts ketchup as a vegetable and cotton candy as fiber! (We just had the Mannington Fair.)

I like the way Kevin thinks!!!

Pies and cobblers! A granddaughter after my own heart. Yes, we Curtises are bakers, and not a bit ashamed of it.
love you,
