Words of Wisdom

Oh the whining and complaining heard at our house. It's just something I don't handle well at all. Neither John nor I puts up with it, and we've started introducing the age-old phrase, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I'm reluctant to use phrases like that, but after all, it's right, isn't it?

So today John was talking to Johnathan and offered another one of these seemingly appropriate truisms, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit." Johnathan said, "Yeah, I know that AND, 'If you can't say anything right, just don't say anything.'"

I'd say that's valid. :)

He is so grown up! I think it's OK to use a few cliches from time to time to back up your own words of wisdom. If it sounds like you're quoting someone else, then it gains value.

Here is one of my favorites: "Keep on doing what you've always done, and you'll keep on getting what you've always got." It's not the best gramatically, but it communicates!

Too funny:)

I was raising my "Mom Voice" with Maren the other day, and she said, "If you talk nicely mom, I talk nicely." Ouch!

Hey, I think Pat and Caleb put a lot of stock in that philosophy as well! It's a good thing neither of them is ever wrong...
